Hey Gent's:
I want to put on the under grip exstened Wilson magwell on my new SA 1911-a1 and don't want to go through the S&A MSH mag like I did on my Kimber 1911 9mm. and want to save some clams.
Does anyone have one of them on there .45? How does it hold up, fit, look, ect?
or spend the xtra $60 and get the S&A 1 piece..
I have one on my Government Springfield loaded and it doesn't look bad at all. It seems to be holding up fine. The only thing that you'll have to do is take a dremmel to the back of your grips and recess them where the part of the magwell loops around the grip screw bushings so you'll get a flush fit. You may also want to look into getting magwell grips as well if y ou go with the magwell.
I've got one on my Delta, and it's held up fine. Seeing that I eventually replaced the mainspring housing, I probably should have gone with the S&A part.
Have them on my Kimber Pro Carry II. The work just fine, but you can't get the MSH off without taking the magwell off. Luckily I don't take the MSH off very often!
I've got one that I don't use anymore. I cut notches in the tabs that go over the grip bushings so I can slip it onto the gun without bending it too much.
