Hero homeowner captures escaped prisoners at gunpoint

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/06/16...l-arrests.html

Well done. The last line in the article is a bit ironic though. He thanks law enforcement for working tirelessly and says the public is safe. Yet it was two citizens who captured them?

Thanks for the heads up. That last statement does kind of leave out that rather important information.

That was a fantastic thing for the homeowner to do. My hat is off to him for this capture. Yeah I agree in that it wasn't the police who caught them in the end. Of course I think a number of us would very likely have done the same thing if someone was trying to steal our car too.

A $130,000 reward isn't going to hurt either.

Too bad they are still living, and costing taxpayers good money. I guess the old "Wanted, Dead or Alive" doesn't exist anymore.

But the citizens did a great job.

This article says they don't know who will collect the reward.

http://portal.mygrande.com/news/read...ed_in_tenne-ap

"The FBI announced a tip line and said pictures of the men and information about a $130,000 reward would appear on billboards in multiple states. TBI's Gwyn said Thursday he wasn't sure who would collect the reward."

Sounds like a no brainer to me...Armed home owner and his armed neighbor share it!

Praise to the two citizens who made this capture. I guess if the FBI doesn't give them the reward, they should have just let the criminals go?

I agree that it is funny the Gov. thanks Law Enforcement who let the criminals escape but doesn't thank the citizens who captured them!

zogger please go easy on your first part. They didn't 'let them go.'
Two good men died violently during their escape.

I know what you mean but it kinda doesn't sound right.

Suppose these were not the escapees but just 2 guys trying to steal a car. Would the homeowner be in any trouble with the law? I don't know. I'm just curious.

He would then have stopped a felony from taking progess.
You have every right to go outside and protect your own property from being stolen.
Some will say it ain't worth it and let the insurance take care of things.
But they always forget to mention that in some states and some companies a reported total loss or theft of a vehicle may significantly increase your premium.

I think they killed two guards in the escape. The police were doing their job and in chase of these animals. I for one would not want to be chasing these two, that wouldn't think twice killing me. My "hats off" to the brave law enforcement. But the home owners that stopped them should get some money and awards, and a hug from someone; that's amazing. Good job home owners for saving the day.

The expressions on the faces of the murderers lead me to believe: they've heard stories similar to those told me by friends who worked as prison guards. The stories involved quick karma finding prisoners that used violence on guards. Stories told by former guards at the Ft. Leavenworth DB. The general sense of inmates taking seriously quick karma was confirmed to me by DB inmate co-workers.

At the same time I had: four guards as classmates and seven inmates as co-workers. Living in Leavenworth, that didn't seem so strange at the time.

Yeah it may actually be a good thing a citizen caught them because they are still alive. Somehow I think it possible if the cops had found them they may have wound up dead.

<sigh>

https://www.yahoo.com/news/escaped-i...134600364.html

To the point Laudanum makes in a separate thread* regarding this, there is zero mention of the non-LEO assistance in capturing them. Don't want to ruin the narrative...

Watch the youtube video in post 17, it will tell you what really happened. There was no gun pointing needed.

Thomas Jefferson had it right

Allowing for Pres. Jefferson's aphorism to contain a degree of hyperbole, the coverage of this story shows that to be a pretty small degree.

Quite interesting. I still think they surrendered to him because they may have thought they wouldn't come out of the woods alive if the cops had found them first. Not saying cops would have killed them without cause only that they may have found a reason to do so.

Once they get them back in Georgia. I would not give them real long odds of living much longer. Lots of people get hurt in prison.

Happened about 8 miles from me. You never know when something can go wrong. So happy it worked out the way it did.
