pearce grips

Hi all,

Yesterday I purchased my first 1911, a Springfield Armory blackened stainless loaded model, and I want to get some soft rubber grips because I like the way they feel. I saw an article talking about Pearce's new modular grip system, and I was wondering if anybody has it yet and whether or not the rubber is soft sort of like the rubber used in Hogue's grips, or if its a harder rubber.

Thanks in advance!

Charlse

I have them on a RIA compact. I like them. They're not soft and grabby, but they're softer than wood. Mostly, I like them because they are thin, but not thin enough to require short grip screw bushings.

hmm, one person says they aren't soft and one says they are.
I do appreciate the answers, so thank you! but has anybody tried both the pearce modular grip as well as the hogue soft rubber wrap around?

thanks,
Charles

I have a pair of the Hogue grip panels on a Colt Govt. model and really like the pebble finish and the palm swells. The rubber would, I guess, be considered soft.

I have used the Pearce finger grooves along with the Hogue grips but have since dropped those for skateboard tape.

I have the same questions as the original poster and also would like to know if the Pearce grips have a palm swell similar to the Hogues. I'd like to get a pair of the Pearce grips if they do for an officer's size frame since Hogue does not make just the panels in that size.

ive got hogue wrap arounds on my beretta, pearce finger grooves on my 1911

pearce is definitely rubber, and it has the feel. theyre a tad firmer than the hogues, but comfortable. they do require a bit of trimming for a flush fit around the edges, but they cut very easily

I had a set of the soft hogues with the finger grooves and really loved them.

The 1911s I'm shooting these days all have beautiful hand checkering on the front strap that I can't bear (bare??) to cover up.

My Son has a SA Champion and we got Hogue and Pierce grips (to see which we liked better) they both felt about the same, a soft but strong rubber. The Pierce did not have the palm swell which we both liked better.
